Monitor Set

Can I use two unlike monitors in a multi-monitor set up?
I’m about to buy an HD widescreen computer monitor. Right now, I have a regular 4X3 samsung flatscreen lcd monitor, and I’m also going to buy a graphics card that can handle two monitors.
I’m wondering, is it possible to set up these two monitors on the same computer, or do they have to be more… similar?
Also, the 4×3 is 17 inches, and I’m not sure what the widescreen will be, but probably between 20 and 23 inches.
You sure can. You can set them up as clone if you want but things will look ugly and stretched/squeezed on one monitor (most likely your 4×3). Just have whatever you’re going to use as your secondary monitor set as “extended” and not clone so that is has it’s own resolution. You can drag open windows to it like it’s part of your screen, but since the resolution is lower, things will look bigger. For example, if a window almost takes up your entire widescreen and you drag it to the 4×3, you will not be able to see the edges of the window unless you resize to make it smaller. Secondary smaller screens are great for chat windows, performance monitors, etc.
